Here is a very displayable crinoid. This is a large Scyphocrinites sp. from the Silurian of Morocco. This robust crinoid has a huge cup composed of many, many stellate plates. The extremely long, multi-branching arms seem to go on forever. The arms are uniserial in nature and exhibit the fine pinnules. A lengthy portion of the stem is still retained by the crinoid. The silvery-gray crinoid contrasts nicely with the reddish-brown matrix. It is well presented on the large plate of matrix that is loaded with other crinoid fragments. This is a very fine example of a crinoid that is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain.
