This specimen is an Uperocrinus pyriformis from the Burlington Formation of Missouri. Usually, crinoids from this formation are found only as calyces. It is unusual to find this crinoid with an articulated stem. It is also unusual to find an Uperocrinus with an anal tube as long as this one. This specimen was recently acquired from a major crinoid collector who specialized in the Burlington Formation. The specimen is nicely centered on the yellowish-orange block of matrix. It is extremely 3-dimensional and the plate structure is great. This is a very good specimen of a crinoid from the Burlington Limestone.
