This is an excellent specimen of Dizygocrinus biturbinatus from the Warsaw Formation of Illinois. The fine detail of this crinoid is just incredible - it is one of the most detailed crinoids that we have ever seen from this formation. This camerate crinoid has a roundish cup comprised of many plates and long, unbranching, biserial arms. Most of the arms are complete to the very tips, and the many fine pinnules are beautifully displayed. This specimen even has a smaller, thinner, regenerated arm on the right side of the crinoid, which makes this fantastic specimen even more intriguing. A touch of round stem is still tightly attached to the calyx of the echinoderm. The fossil has great, natural color and contrasts well with the tannish-gray matrix. The crinoid is almost perfectly centered on the rectangular plate of siltstone. This is a top-quality example of Dizygocrinus from the Mississippian of Illinois.
