This is one of the most spectacular crinoids from New York that we have ever seen. It is a HUGE Ichthyocrinus laevis from the Silurian of New York. This primitive Flexible crinoid is somewhat inflated and has beautifully defined plate structure. Usually, this crinoid has the arms folded in toward the top. This specimen exhibits the arms in the spread ''feeding'' position. Even the very tiny tips of the arms can be seen. An extremely long (10.4 inches) stem is still tightly attached to the crinoid crown. The echinoderm has great color and contrast and is wonderfully centered on the rectangular plate of shale. This is, perhaps, the ultimate display specimen of a crinoid from the Rochester Shale.
