This is a very detailed specimen of Lyriocrinus from the Rochester Shale of New York. This specimen was recently acquired from the Eugene Thomas Collection. The distinct crinoid has nice plate structure, and the biserial arms are splayed out to create a beautiful display. Many of the tiny pinnules of the arms are exhibited, which is extremely unusual for this type. The crinoid has a long stem still attached to the crown. The fossil "sea lily" is very 3-dimensional, has great color and contrast, and is well showcased on the large plate of shale which also contains a Caryocrinites cystoid. This is a very cool display specimen of Lyriocrinus mellisa from New York.
