This is a very distinct crinoid holdfast associated with other fossils from the Waldron Shale of Indiana. The quarry where this specimen was found is now filled with water. This large holdfast is extremely 3-dimensional and exhibits wonderful detail. The stem attachment point is easily seen, and the branching ''roots'' are beautifully displayed. There are also many other fossils on the plate. The fossils have great color and contrast and are well showcased on the large plate of limestone. This is a fabulous example of a very large crinoid holdfast from the Silurian sea floor.
