This is a beautifully preserved free-swimming, stemless crinoid from the Cretaceous of Morocco. This crinoid is the first of this type we have seen of this quality from this locality. Examples of crinoids from the Cenomanian (95 million year old) deposits are quite uncommon, and fossils in general from this area are very hard to obtain. The crinoid has excellent detail preserved - the long arms are wonderfully splayed and curled at the ends (hard to see in photo). The fossil is beautifully centered on the large, rectangular plate of Sublithographic Limestone that also contains a nice isopod fossil in the upper left corner! This is a rare and collectible sea lily fossil from a very unusual locality.
