This is a fantastic crinoid fossil. It is a HUGE Traumatocrinus hsuixi from China. This type of crinoid is Triassic in age - very few crinoids are found in the Triassic. This specimen has the best of both worlds - it is large and it is detailed. The crinoid is about 31 inches long with the LONG stem intact, and is complete down to the ball float base! That's one big crinoid! The sea lily also has extremely fine detail preserved - the pinnules and spikes on the arms are even intact. This is one of the best display crinoids we have had. It is a wonderful COMPLETE example of this huge Mesozoic crinoid. (Plate has been repaired along a fault line)
