This is a very nice crinoid holdfast from the Waldron Shale of Indiana. The quarry where this specimen was found is now filled with water. This large holdfast is extremely 3-dimensional and exhibits wonderful detail. The stem attachment point is very easily seen. The long, branching ''roots'' are beautifully displayed. This distinct fossil has great color and contrast and is well showcased on the large block of limestone that also contains MANY other fossils. This is a very fine example of a large crinoid holdfast from the Silurian sea.
