This is an ornate fossil crinoid. It is a Dorycrinus unicornis from the Burlington Formation of Missouri. This specimen has great detail. The long spine that gives this crinoid its name is intact and still attached. There is also a melon-shaped Cryptoblastus blastoids on the plate. The fossils contrast beautifully with the orange matrix plate. This is a wonderful example of this spiny Mississippian crinoid and blastoid.
