Here is a spectacular specimen of Barycrinus hoveyi from the famous Mississippian beds of Crawfordsville, Indiana. This type of crinoid has a large, bowl-shaped cup with thin plates and very robust, uniserial arms. This ''sea lily'' is very 3-dimensional and preserves wonderful detail. Most often, this species of crinoid is found with the arms broken off or shortened - the arms of this specimen are unusually complete to the very tips. The ramules of the arms are also quite evident. A LONG section of stem is still attached to the cup and continues all the way to the roots! The fossil has great color and contrast and has been beautifully prepared in high relief for optimal display. The crinoid is wonderfully showcased on the rectangular plate of siltstone. This is a top quality specimen of a COMPLETE Barycrinus hoveyi from the Mississippian of Indiana.
