This is a very distinct crinoid holdfast associated with other fossils from the Waldron Shale of Indiana. The quarry where this specimen was filled water and closed to collecting in 2008. This large holdfast is extremely 3-dimensional and exhibits wonderful detail. The stem attachment point is easily seen, and the branching ''rootlets'' are beautifully displayed. There are also other fossils on the plate. The fossils have great color and contrast and are well showcased on the large, natural plate of dense shale. This is a fabulous example of a large crinoid holdfast from the Silurian sea.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
