Here is a fabulous multiple plate of crinoids from LeGrand, Iowa, one of the most famous crinoid sites in the world. This specimen was found in the 1930s and recently obtained from a major crinoid collection. Crinoids from LeGrand are perhaps the most sought-after crinoids in the world. There are SIX crinoid crowns representing FIVE different species on this large plate. There are two DIFFERENT species of Aorocrinus, two Dichocrinus cinctus, and two DIFFERENT unidentified crinoids on the piece. The crinoids are very 3-dimensionally preserved and exhibit fine detail - even the tiny pinnules of the arms are beautifully displayed. The crinoids are nicely positioned on the long plate of yellowish matrix that also has long crinoid stems and other crinoid fragments. An interesting feature about the crinoids from this site is that the different species of crinoids are different colors. This is a very displayable and collectible crinoid plate from the classic site of LeGrand, Iowa.
