This is an outstanding echinoderm specimen from the Mississippian of Indiana. There is a fabulous Onychocrinus ulrichi crinoid and a gorgeous true starfish on the plate. The Onychocrinus is a flexible crinoid , and has excellent plate structure and a portion of the stem still attached. The fossil in the upper right corner is Onychaster flexilis. This large starfish is very inflated and has absolutely wonderful detail. The plate structure is superb and the long, winding arms even display the tube feet of the animal. This is one of the best Onychaster stars we have ever seen. This is a very exciting specimen of top quality echinoderms from the famous Crawfordsville, Indiana area.
