Here is a very interesting plate of crinoids from the Mississippian of Indiana. There are three different crinoids on this slab. To the left of the plate is a fine specimen of Taxocrinus colleti. This type of crinoid has a multi-plated base with stout arms that branch near the tips. The arms of this crinoid have tiny ramules that aided in the food-gathering process. This Flexible crinoid is wonderfully preserved in the classic ''arms curled in'' position. A wonderful example of Abrotocrinus unicus is presreved at the bottom of the plate. This distinct crinoid has many branching arms and a long stem intact. A fine Macrocrinus mundulus is displayed on the right side of the plate. This camerate crinoid has many feathery arms preserved. The fossils have very good color and contrast and are well presented on the rectangular plate of siltstone. This is a fine multiple crinoid plate from Crawfordsville, Indiana.
