Here is a very unusual crinoid. This is Abrotocrinus sp. from the Mississippian of Indiana. This type of crinoid has a shallow, bowl-shaped cup with long, branching uniserial arms. This 3-dimensional specimen has excellent plate structure, and the long arms display some pinnules in fine fashion - the arms are unusually complete down to the tiny tips. The fossil has great natural color and has been prepared fully free of matrix - it displays beautifully from all angles. This is a very fine example of Abrotocrinus from Crawfordsville, Indiana.
