This is a very nice crinoid holdfast from the Waldron Shale of Indiana. The quarry where this specimen was found is now filled with water. This distinct holdfast is extremely 3-dimensional and exhibits wonderful detail. The stem attachment point is very easily seen. The long, branching ''roots'' are beautifully displayed. The fossil has great color and contrast and is well showcased on the large plate of limestone that also contains other fossils. This is a very fine example of a large crinoid holdfast from the Silurian sea.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
