This is a fabulous specimen of Paradichocrinus planus from the Mississippian deposits of Crawfordsville, Indiana. This crinoid was recently obtained from a major crinoid collector. This crinoid is large, 3-dimensionally preserved, and exhibits gorgeous detail. The large, inflated cup has great plate structure. Usually, the arms on this particular species are broken off short or are missing, but the extremely long, thin, biserial arms are beautifully displayed on this specimen. The fine pinnulation of the arms is also extremely well defined - the arms almost look feathery. A lengthy portion of the stem is still attached to the cup. The crinoid has great color and contrast and is beautifully showcased on the large plate of siltstone. This is a top quality display specimen of Paradichocrinus, one of the hardest Crawfordsville crinoids to find complete.
