This is a very collectible US crinoid. It is a distinct Phanocrinus from Alabama. This site produces crinoids, but many are poorly preserved - this one is an exception. This fossil was obtained from a major crinoid collector. The crinoid is very 3-dimensional and is extremely well articulated. The sea lily has great detail preserved on the arms and the long stem. The crinoid has great natural coloration and is well showcased on the large block of matrix that also contains a Phacelocrinus longidactylus crinoid on the far left side of the plate. This is one of the best crinoids we have ever had from Alabama.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
