This is a very large crinoid holdfast from the Waldron Shale of Indiana. The quarry where this specimen was found is now filled with water and closed to collecting. This distinct holdfast is extremely 3-dimensional and exhibits wonderful detail. The stem attachment point is very easily seen. The long, branching ''roots'' are beautifully displayed. There is also many other fossils preserved on the plate. All of these fossils are natural to the plate - they are not composited. The fossils have great color and contrast and are well showcased on the large plate of limestone. This is a fine example of a very large crinoid holdfast from the Silurian sea.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
