Here is a very interesting fossil. It is a cluster of FOUR crinoid holdfasts from the Silurian of Indiana. The quarry where this specimen was found is now filled with water. This holdfasts are very 3-dimensional and exhibit great detail - the five-point, star-shaped stem attachment points are easily seen and beautifully displayed. The branching pattern of the many ''rootlets'' is clearly defined. The fossils have excellent color and contrast and are well centered on the large, rectangular plate of shale that also contains other fossils. This is a highly collectible example of a group of crinoid holdfasts from the Waldron Shale.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
