Here is a distinct fossil crinoid. This is Scytalocrinus decadactylus from the Mississippian of Crawfordsville, Indiana. This type of crinoid has a small, bowl-shaped cup and long, thin, uniserial arms. This specimen exhibits these features in wonderful fashion. A LONG stem is tightly attached, and the arms are very well preserved and display the fine pinnules beautifully. The crinoid is well presented on the rectangular plate of limestone. This is a very fine example of this hard-to-find species of crinoid.
