This is a one-of-a-kind plate of fossils. It is an extremely rare Dendrocrinus gregarius crinoid and FOUR Ceraurus pleurexanthemus from the famous Walcott-Rust Quarry near Trenton Falls, New York. This plate is from the quarry that Charles D. Walcott and James Hall made famous over a century ago! The Harvard MCZ WRQ website states that only one specimen of Dendrocrinus had been found in the WRQ - well, here is a second, and it is MUCH more complete than the first! The crinoid has great detail preserved, showcasing the long stem and branching arms beautifully. The plate also has FOUR Ceraurus pleurexanthemus and a RARE Hypodicranotus striatulus hypostoma (mouthplate) preserved about the piece. Anyone who knows anything about the history of US fossils knows how important a rare crinoid from this locality is - it is a piece of history. This is a very collectible example of an ultra rare Dendrocrinus gregarius crinoid from the Walcott-Rust Quarry.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
