This is an unusual Ordovician crinoid. There is a fine Eopatelliocrinus scyphogracilis crinoid preserved on this slab. This fine specimen was recently acquired from a major crinoid collection. The 3-dimensional crinoid on this plate is nicely articulated and has excellent detail - even the unique plate structure is beautifully defined. The delicate, splayed arms showcase the tiny pinnules in ''feathery'' fashion. The dark-colored crinoid contrasts strikingly with the light-colored matrix. The distinct sea lily is wonderfully showcased on the natural plate of shale that also contains a nice brachiopod to the left of the crinoid. This is a beautiful Eopatelliocrinus scyphogracilis with stem from Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
