This is a fabulous specimen of the rare Barycrinus princeps from the Mississippian deposits near Crawfordsville, Indiana. This specimen was recently acquired from the famous DeRosear Collection. This large, robust crinoid is inflated and wonderfully articulated. The large, bulbous, smooth-plated cup shows exquisite plate structure. The stout, branching, uniserial arms are quite long for this particular species of crinoid. The short ramules off the arms are beautifully displayed. An EXTREMELY LONG, aesthetically curved stem is still attached to the cup of the crinoid. The cream-colored fossil contrasts well with the grey matrix plate. The sea lily is well showcased on the large plate of siltstone. This is possibly the best specimen of Barycrinus princeps we have ever seen.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
