Here is a very multiple crinoid plate from Gilmore City, Iowa. This classic location has been closed to collecting for a number of years, ever since some drunken fool drove his car over the wall of the quarry. The plate has SEVENTEEN crinoids preserved (5 Eretmocrinus tentor, 7 Dichocrinus multiplex, and 4 Aorocrinus iola, and one unidentified crinoid). The crinoids are wonderfully displayed and have good detail preserved. The fossil echinoderms have nice color and contrast and are naturally scattered on the large, rectangular plate of limestone. This is a very prolific crinoid multiple from an historic fossil locality. (The red dots are used for identification.)
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
