Here is an unusual crinoid from Gilmore City, Iowa. This classic location has been closed to collecting for a number of years, ever since some drunken fool drove his car over the wall of the quarry. However, we have acquired a lot of crinoids from a local collector who had them stashed away for decades. A wonderful example of Dichocrinus multiplex is preserved in the center of the plate. This crinoid is beautifully displayed, with the feathery arms and most of the long stem present, which is very unusual. The fossil sea lily has what seems to be a gastropod attached to the arms of the crinoid. The fossil has great color and contrast and is nicely showcased on the rectangular plate of limestone. This is a strange crinoid from a classic locality that is now closed to collecting.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
