Here is a very nice echinoderm plate from the Burlington Formation of Missouri. In the center of the slab is an extremely large example of Physetocrinus ventricosus. This distinct crinoid has a large cup that is composed of many plates. There are also THREE blastoids, Globoblastus norwoodi, on the plate. These melon-shaped blastoids have thin ambulacra and granulose plates. All of the echinoderms are wonderfully 3-dimensional and exhibit excellent detail. The white color of the fossils contrasts nicely with the orangish-brown matrix. The fossils are well positioned on the rectangular block of limestone that contains many other crinoid fragments. This is a great specimen of this large crinoid flanked by three blastoids.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
