Here is a fabulous crinoid from Gilmore City, Iowa. This classic location has been closed to collecting for a number of years, ever since some drunken fool drove his car over the wall of the quarry. However, we have acquired a lot of crinoids from a local collector who had them stashed away for decades. A wonderful example of Dichocrinus multiplex is preserved on the plate. This crinoid is beautifully displayed, with the feathery arms and most of the long stem present, which is very unusual. The fossil echinoderm has great color and contrast and is nicely centered on the natural plate of shale. This is a very detailed crinoid from a classic locality that is now closed to collecting.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
