Here is a very nice crinoid plate that we recently acquired from a major crinoid collection. There are two wonderful examples of Eretmocrinus tentor and a crinoid root system on the slab. This specimen is from the Mississippian of Iowa. This location has been closed to collecting for a number of years - ever since some fool drove their car over the wall of the quarry. Both of the large Eretmocrinus are extremely 3-dimensional and exhibit superb detail. These camerate crinoids have large, stellate-plated cups and long, stout biserial arms that display fine pinnulation. Both crinoids still have a lengthy portion of stem tightly attached. The beautiful coloration of the echinoderms is totally natural. The creamish-brown crinoids contrast wonderfully with the tan matrix. The sea lillies are well showcased on the large plate of limestone that also contains a crinoid holdfast and a brachiopod. This is a very collectible crinoid plate from one of the most famous echinoderm sites in the Midwest.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
