Here is an amazing multiple crinoid plate from Gilmore City, Iowa. This classic location has been closed to collecting for a number of years, ever since some drunken fool drove his car over the wall of the quarry. However, we have acquired a lot of crinoids from a local collector who had them stashed away for decades. The plate has four beautiful crinoids of three different types preserved. The two crinoids with the VERY LONG STEMS are Dichocrinus simplex - the other two are Eretmocrinus tentor and Aorocrinus iola. The crinoids are beautifully displayed and nicely spaced on the plate, which is very unusual. The fossil echinoderms have great color and contrast and are naturally positioned on the large, natural plate of limestone. This is a very collectible grouping of crinoids from a classic locality that is now closed to collecting. (The red stickers are for identification.)
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
