Here is a beautiful crinoid from Gilmore City, Iowa. This classic location has been closed to collecting for a number of years, ever since some drunken fool drove his car over the wall of the quarry. However, we have acquired a lot of crinoids from a local collector who had them stashed away for decades. A rare type of Rhodocrinus is preserved on the plate. This crinoid is beautifully displayed, with the long, splayed arms, large plated calyx, and much of the long stem present, which is extremely unusual. The fossil sea lily has great color and contrast and is nicely showcased on the squared matrix plate. This is a very displayable crinoid from a classic locality that is now closed to collecting.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
