This is a freakin' huge example of an extremely unusual crinoid. It is a fabulous Lebetocrinus grandis from the Mississippian of Indiana. This specimen was acquired from a MAJOR crinoid collection. This type of crinoid has a small, cone-shaped cup with long, uniserial arms that have distinct pinnulation. It is highly uncommon to find this crinoid with the arms so well preserved. Most of the time when this scarce crinoid is found, the arms are broken off short or missing entirely. This specimen is extremely unusual in that the arms are complete to the tiny tips and are folded inward at the very top. A portion of the stem is still tightly attached to the cup, which is also unusual. The ''sea lily'' is nicely inflated and has great color and contrast. The crinoid is almost perfectly centered on the rectangular plate of siltstone. And this crinoid is over SEVEN INCHES LONG - holy cow! This is a HUGE, textbook specimen of this exrtremely rare crinoid from Crawfordsville, Indiana.
