Here is a nice crinoid specimen that we recently obtained from an old collection. This plate was collected at least thirty years ago in the Chesterian Beds near Anna, Illinois. There are two examples of Phanocrinus formosus on the slab. These inadunate crinoids have a very shallow cup with stout, uniserial arms. The crinoids are extremely 3-dimensional and have excellent plate structure. There is a corkscrew-shaped bryozoan, Archimedes sp., laying across the arms of one of the crinoids. The off-white color of the crinoids contrasts wonderfully with the yellowish matrix that is loaded with other bryozoans. The sea lilies are well positioned on the oval plate of limestone. This is a fine specimen of Upper Mississippian crinoids from a now-closed collecting site.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
