This is a very uncommon crinoid from an unusual location. It is an Ulrichicrinus sp. from the Keokuk Formation of Missouri. This type of crinoid has a large, cone-shaped cup and extremely long, uniserial arms - these features are beautifully displayed on this crinoid. The sea lily exhibits fine detail - the plate structure is very distinct, and the arms are nicely extended. A LONG portion of the stem is still tightly attached to the cup. The crinoid has wonderful color and contrast and is beautifully centered on the rectangular plate of limestone. This is an excellent example of this rare crinoid from the Keokuk Formation.
