Here is a very pair of Mississippian crinoids. This is Platycrinites hemisphericus and Scytalocrinus sp. from Crawfordsville, Indiana. The Platycrinites (left) is quite distinct. This camerate crinoid is very 3-dimensionally preserved and exhibits excellent detail. The extremely granulated plates of the cup are clearly defined. There is a brachiopod preserved on the feathery arms of the sea lily (rare). A long, corkscrew stem (indicative of the genus) is still tightly attached to the cup. The Scytalocrinus also has a very long stem preserved. The crinoids have good color and contrast and are well presented on the large slab of siltstone that also contains Cladochonus corals. This is a very displayable crinoid double from this famous site.
