Here is a nice crinoid from Gilmore City, Iowa. This classic location has been closed to collecting for a number of years, ever since some drunken fool drove his car over the wall of the quarry. However, we have acquired a lot of crinoids from a local collector who had them stashed away for decades. A wonderful example of Eretmocrinus tentor is preserved on the plate. This crinoid is beautifully displayed, with the anal tube and some stem present, which is very unusual. The fossil echinoderm has great color and contrast and is nicely positioned on the squared plate of limestone. This is a very attractive crinoid from a classic locality that is now closed to collecting.
