This is a wonderful specimen of Platycrinites halli from the Mississippian of Illinois. Finding a crinoid from the Burlington Formation with stem attached is almost unheard of - this specimen has a very long, corkscrew stem attached. The crinoid is extremely 3-dimensional and preserves excellent detail. The cup of the crinoid has very large, distinct plates, and many arms are even preserved! The white color of the crinoid contrasts nicely with the natural orange matrix. The fossil is beautifully showcased on the large, triangular plate of limestone. This is an irreplaceable specimen of Platycrinites halli from the Burlington Formation.
