Here is an incredible plate of echinoderms from Gilmore City, Iowa. We recently acquired this piece in an old collection. This classic location has been closed to collecting for a number of years, ever since some drunken fool drove his car over the wall of the quarry. There are MANY crinoids on the large plate of three different types - Pachylocrinus sp., Gilmocrinus iowensis, and Culmicrinus thomasi. This plate also has MANY spiny urchins preserved of two different types - Archaeocidaris aliquantula and Lepidechinus cooperi. The fossils are beautifully spread out over the plate, covering the entire surface. This is a very collectible plate of crinoids and spiny urchins from this classic location.
