This is an excellent crinoid. It is an extremely inflated specimen of Dizygocrinus gorbyi from the Mississippian of Illinois. This camerate crinoid has a large, robust cup and long, biserial arms that are complete to the very tips. The very fine pinnules of the arms are beautifully displayed. A lengthy portion of the round, articulated stem is still tightly attached to the cup of the crinoid. This crinoid has unusual, purplish-brown coloration that is totally natural. The crinoid is well centered on the rounded rectangular plate of siltstone. This is one of the most attractive Dizygocrinus that we have seen from the Warsaw Formation.
