This is a nice echinoderm association from the Mississippian of Indiana. There are two wonderful crinoids and a rare starfish on the plate. The crinoid on the left side of the matrix block is Barycrinus spirius. This unusual flexible crinoid exhibits fine detail. This crinoid also has a lenghthy stem still attached to the crown. The crinoid on the right side of the plate is Cyathocrinites kelloggi. This crinoid is also nice, with a long stem attached. There is also a rare starfish preserved directly under the Barycrinus. The plate structure is superb, and the long arms even display some of the tube feet of the animal. The fossils have excellent color and contrast and are well spaced on the somewhat rectangular plate of siltstone. This is a very collectible specimen of a two different crinoids and a starfish from Crawfordsville.
