Here is an excellent plate with two very nice crinoids. This specimen is from the famous Mississippian beds near Crawfordsville, Indiana. On the left is a fine specimen of Cyathocrinites iowensis. This inadunate crinoid has a cone-shaped cup with nodose plates. The extremely long, uniserial arms branch many, many times and are unusually complete to the tiny tips. On the right is a very nice example of Platycrinites niotensis. This uncommon crinoid shows the cup and very long arms. Both crinoids are preserved in a 3-dimensional fashion and exhibit superb detail. This is a very aesthetic plate of crinoids from Indiana.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
