Here is a very nice Mississippian crinoid. This is Platycrinites hemisphericus from Crawfordsville, Indiana. This camerate crinoid is very 3-dimensionally preserved and exhibits excellent detail. The extremely granulated plates of the cup are clearly defined. A long, twisted stem (indicative of the genus) is still tightly attached to the cup. The crinoid has good color and contrast and is well presented on the large slab of siltstone that also contains a large crinoid stem. This is a very distinct crinoid from this famous site.
