This is a rare flexible crinoid from the Silurian of New York. This is a fine specimen of Lecanocrinus macropetalus. The crinoid is very well preserved - the plate structure is great, and most specimens of this crinoid do not preserve the arms as nicely as this one does. On this specimen, the arms are folded in at the top, making for a nice display. The crinoid is 3-dimensional and has the long stem attached. The fossil is well centered on a squared plate of matrix. This is an extremely nice specimen of this early flexible crinoid.
