Here is an unusual Canadian crinoid. This is Archaeocrinus sp. from the Ordovician of Ontario. This type of crinoid has a large cup composed of many plates and many multi-branching, biserial arms. The plate structure of this specimen is wonderfully defined, and many of the long, swirling, pinnulated arms are even present. An extremely long, rounded stem is still present. But the rare feature of this piece is that the crinoid crown and stem are mostly free of matrix! This is an unusual ''loose'' specimen of this large sea lily from Canada. (Crinoid is in two pieces, but will fit together perfectly, and can be glued back together when received.)
