This is museum quality specimen of an unusual crinoid from Crawfordsville, Indiana. This is Histocrinus coreyi, a relatively uncommon species of crinoid from this location. The detail of the fossil is superb - the long, uniserial arms are beautifully preserved and display the heavy, tooth-like pinnules in wonderful fashion. The plate structure is excellent and very easily seen. And the crinoid even has a LONG portion of the stem still attached. This is a textbook specimen of Histocrinus from this classic Mississippian crinoid locality.
