Here is an extremely large crinoid. This is Actinocrinites gibsoni from the Mississippian layers near Crawfordsville, Indiana. This type of crinoid has a large cup composed of heavy, stellate plates and long, branching, biserial arms with fine pinnulation. This large camerate crinoid is very 3-dimensionally preserved and exhibits superb detail. The plate structure is beautifully displayed, and the arms are unusually intact. A long section of thick stem is still tightly attached to the crown. The cream-colored crinoid contrasts nicely with the orange-brown matrix. The sea lily is well positioned on the rounded rectangular plate of siltstone. This is a very robust example of Actinocrinites from the Edwardsville Formation.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
