Here is a wonderful specimen of a large Dizygocrinus biturbinatus from the Warsaw Formation of Illinois. This camerate crinoid has a roundish cup comprised of many plates and long, unbranching, biserial arms. The arms are complete to the very tips on this specimen and even display the fine pinnules. A LONG anal tube extends way above the tops of the arms and a lengthy portion of the stem is still tightly attached to the cup. The purplish color of the crinoid contrasts nicely with the gray matrix. It is almost perfectly centered on the somewhat oval plate of siltstone. This is a very collectible example of Dizygocrinus biturbinatus from the Mississippian of Illinois.
