Here is an extremely rare crinoid. This is Hylodecrinus sculptus from the Mississippian of Indiana. This type has a small, bowl-shaped cup with deeply invaginated plates. The long, uniserial arms branch many times. This specimen is very 3-dimensionally preserved and exhibits fine detail. The crinoid has great, natural color and contrast. The fossil is well positioned on the semi-rectangular plate of siltstone. This is a very nice example of this hard-to-find Crawfordsville crinoid.
