This is a striking crinoid plate from the Mississippian of Indiana. On the left side of the plate is a beautiful Cyathocrinites iowensis. This type of crinoid has large plates on the cup and distinct branching arms. This 3-dimensional specimen exhibits wonderful detail. On the center of the plate is a large Dizygocrinus sp. This fine crinoid is also well preserved - the plate structure is easily seen, and the arms display very well. A long, curved stem is still tightly attached to the cup. Both fossils have great color and contrast and are well positioned on the rectangular plate of siltstone. This is a great specimen of Cyathocrinites and Dizygocrinus fossilized together on the same piece.
